The individual may fidget, be restless, walk up and down. Individuals may be experiencing pain, discomfort, a medical issue, a basic needs, a feeling such as boredom, anxiety, communication problems or the environment.
This can be resolved by establishing a routine, engaging in activities or hobbies, encouraging the person to be physically active such as going for a walk, checking for incontinence, therapies such as animal therapy, music therapy, aromatherapy, touch therapy and giving the person something to occupy their hands such as a soft toy, worry beads, fiddle product or a rummage box. It might also be useful to involve the individual in hands on activities such as helping in chores around the house.
